ArcDen Studio is a Denver based architecture firm led by husband/wife duo, Hans Osheim and Joana Emhof. Our design philosophy is threefold – strong consideration of human and environmental impacts, strong partnerships with clients and consultants, and timeless design through thoughtful space planning, careful material selection and detailing.

While we have a broad range of experience in different project types, we are inspired by clients who want to improve upon an existing space. We believe reuse and minimizing waste is an instrumental component of sustainable design. Each renovation project presents its own unique set of challenges, yet therein lies opportunity to breathe new life into an existing structure and provide transformative architecture.

Whether a project is urban or rural, a new build or a renovation, our intent is to improve human relationships and experience by considering natural light, strengthening connection to nature, and creating a sense of place. ArcDen values the wealth of knowledge and experience our clients and consultants bring to a project and it is important for us to establish a close partnership with the team from start to finish in order to achieve a cohesive end product.

Each of our projects is influenced by environmental, contextual, cultural, and physical conditions. Incorporating design that honors those conditions as well as the client’s desires and needs, is paramount to our work and the ability to offer site-specific, soulful architecture.

Current work includes a full interior and exterior remodel to an existing hilltop retreat in Boulder, Colorado, a significant addition to an existing midcentury modern gem in Evergreen, Colorado, and 24 new townhomes on a new masterplan development in Denver, Colorado.
