Applewood Residence | Golden, CO

Applewood Residence is an existing 1960’s midcentury modern home that was in need of significant structural repairs and updates.  The project evolved into a full interior remodel and primary suite addition, as well an exterior renovation.  While previous owners stripped the interiors of its modern design to give it a more traditional feel, our client was interested in revitalizing the home in a way that would connect it back to its roots.  Crisp design moves that contrast with warm wood floors throughout, as well as added windows and skylights, brought the interiors to life.  New structural joists between the basement and first floor and a new roof (including a remodeled eastern facing roofline) helped solidify the structural integrity of the home so that it will continue to endure throughout the next century and beyond.  Finally, where a midcentury modern ranch is typically lacking, the addition of a sizeable primary bedroom with ensuite five piece bath truly transformed the original design into a modern day retreat.
