Green Sage | Colorado Springs, CO

Green Sage Residence is located in the southern plains of Colorado with a stunning Rocky Mountain Backdrop, and serves as a modern cabin for a growing homesteading family.  Cost efficiency, a small footprint on the landscape positioned to maximize energy efficiency, and a garage that would accommodate a sailboat, yet remain proportionally cohesive, were a few key priorities that would influence the design.  Exposed exterior structure is a nod to the traditional mountain cabin, while crisp white interiors and large windows maximize natural light and openness to the vast landscape.  A deep southwest overhang protects the main glass façade from peak summer temperatures while allowing for ample winter sunlight to penetrate deep into the space. Similarly, polished concrete floors retain and release heat in winter months and remain cool to the touch during hot, exposed summers.
